Public Health Inspector

Its purpose is to implement actions that protect and promote Public Health within the Hospital environment. The department is staffed by certified Public Health Inspectors (Public Health Supervisors, TE), graduates of the Public Health Department of the Athens University of Applied Sciences, holding the required professional licence. It operates under the Medical Services Directorate.

Role and Responsibilities of the Public Health Inspector
  • Public health inspection of all hospital areas.
  • Hygiene and safety inspection of food services.
  • Sampling of food and water for microbiological and chemical testing.
  • Health inspections of food-handling and cleaning staff health certificates.
  • Inspection of water supply and sewage systems.
  • Management of medical waste and implementation of the internal hazardous medical waste management protocol.
  • Implementation of recycling programmes (paper, aluminium, plastic, batteries, etc.).
  • Organisation, coordination and supervision of pest control, rodent control and disinfection programmes.
  • Monitoring hospital cleanliness standards.
  • Identification and reporting of public health risks within the Hospital and submission of recommendations for their resolution.
  • Continuous professional development through scientific training programmes.
  • Educational sessions for hospital staff on hazardous medical waste management.
  • Educational sessions for hospital staff on cleaning procedures and hand hygiene practices.
  • Participation in various scientific and administrative committees.
